I tried to install Neuron, compiling the standard distribution under Unix/Linux but had no success; configure failed. According to the configure.log, system was unknown. The processor I have is an Intel core i7.
I 'd be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks and regards,
Eleftheria

Re: configure failed with "system unknown" error
Which version of what distribution of UNIX or Linux? Were you previously able to compile NEURON on this particular machine?
Re: configure failed with "system unknown" error
The operating system was Ubuntu 9.10 in Sun Virtual Box virtualizer (guest Ubuntu, host Windows 7). That was the first installation attempt on this machine.
Re: configure failed with "system unknown" error
In the iv-17 or nrn-7.1 directory what is the result of
./config.guess
If something comes back unknown, do you know what the correct string would be?
If so you can manually specify it as in --build=x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu
You might try starting with
http://www.neuron.yale.edu/ftp/neuron/v ... 425.tar.gz
since that may have a more up-to-date config.guess

Hi Ted,
Just to update this post, I finally installed NEuron x86_64 in Ubuntu 9.10, no virtual machine at the same processor (i7).
Thanks,
Eleftheria
