There's an outdated link in the MacOS installation tips (https://neuron.yale.edu/neuron/download). This is under "Troubleshooting the macOS installer", "Problem: No gui when NEURONDEMO is launched."
The link for XDarwin appears to be undesirable. For me, it redirects to a lovely page on the topic "Basic criteria for the students who need professional diploma".
I would think the better choice is www.xquartz.org/
