Channelbuild question

but is there a way to edit other properties of imported channels in the channelbuild window?

Sure. Anything that can be done to specify channel properties in the first place, can be
done to modify them afterward. To review the basic properties, click on the Properties
button

and to examine the gating properties, click on any of the items that appear in the lower
(dark grey) panel of the Channel Builder.

I downloaded the channel and imported it, not created it. From what the page, says, it seems like the only channels you can modify are the ones that have been created since you opened NEURON. The one I am trying to modify is in a .mod file. Perhaps there is a way to load it using hoc and modify it using the GUI?

Then you have two choices:
change the mod file
or
use a Channel builder to set up a new mechanism that has the same biophysical properties
as those that are specified by the mod file, then modify the Channel Builder.
