Cellular Volume

Post by RBJ »

Hello I am taking a look at cellular volume with NEURON, amongst other things. I have defined a mechanism which can handle a simple volume change, but is it possible to use this to change the master RANGE "diam" and "L" during a simulation (so, potentially, other mechanisms can pick up on this)?

What constitutes a useful answer to your question depends partly on what you are trying to accomplish (do you want surface area to change too?), and partly on implementational details of the model cell (3D vs. stylized geometry, discretization strategy) and the biophysical mechanisms (do any involve intermediate variables that depend on local geometry and are computed during initialization?) that you are using. This discussion is probably best continued via email; my address is ted dot carnevale at yale dot edu
