I have a simulation that takes 1.82 seconds to run on a 1400MHz pentium M and 86 seconds to run on a duel 1.8gz G5 (mac)

OS is win XP home and mac 10.4

(if you tripple the simulation time it takes 7.3/86 seconds)

both are using the version of NEURON currently available (5.8.88)
while the mac is running, it uses 98% of one processor.

why the big difference in speed?

(note the link above is currenly broken, as my webpage is down. it will probably get fixed when i get home in about 5 hours)

The simulation times should be about the
same. To understand what went wrong and
why they are so different I'll need to run your
model on my linux and osx mac g5 machines.
Please send me all the required hoc/ses/mod files in a zip file to michael.hines@yale.edu
along with instructions as to how to run the
sim.
