command not found

Post by chalspark »

hello.

I have benn setup NEURON 7.1 version dmg file. (my os version is mac osx 10.6.4)

and I try to drop down myproject folder in mknrndll for compiles.

I have got this error message. (this project is well done in windows version.)

/Applications/NEURON-7.2/nrn/umac/bin/nrnivmodl: line 149: make: command not found

So,I have been setup NEURON 7.2 alpha 424 version.

I have got same message.

/Applications/NEURON-7.2/nrn/i386/bin/nrnivmodl: line 149: make: command not found

What's wrong in NEURON?

Hi there,

I am also having the same problem with getting the "make command not found line". I have looked at the FAQ sheet but I am sorry whatever info is there is not helpful. I have NEURON 7.2, and I get a window that pops up saying drag .mod files into it but then nothing happens. I am super new at this, not overly computer friendly, and would really appreciate some step by step help. Thanks!

Might be, if you stop there. Don't be sorry, become the protagonist of your life. You lost/discarded the system CDs or DVDs that came with your computer? Apple can't/won't supply replacements, even for $$? (seems out of character for them . . . )

Have you groped around Apple's site for Mac OS X support? I find
Mac OS X 10.5 Help
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html ... /8782.html
which has links to
Apple Xcode website
and
Apple Developer website

At
Apple Xcode website
http://developer.apple.com/technologies/tools/
I find the item
"Xcode 3
Your integrated development environment for creating great iPad, iPhone, and Mac apps."
plus a button suspiciously labeled "Free Download". Wonder what that's for . . .

On a related note, I am having the same problem (error 149: make command not found), I have OSX 10.6.7, Neuron 7.2 and xcode 3 (can't update to xcode 4 because the download page is down). Is the xcode version what's holding me up? Any workarounds?

Thanks

You can download Xcode 3.2.6 for free at http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/mac/index.action. Following the Apple's nickel-and-diming way of getting rich, Xcode 4 requires a free developer registration followed by a $5 download from the App Store.

Thanks, that worked.

As usual this forum delivers. :)

Thanks for using NEURON in your research, Elqui. If you publish anything that uses results generated with NEURON, please be sure to let us know so we can cite your paper in the NEURON Bibliography

And thanks for your very timely and helpful reply, mctavish.

Let me put this in perspective for you. Having once paid multiple hundreds to MicroSoft for this or that development software in the dim and remote past, I find the idea of a giant corporation distributing software that empowers its users at $5 a pop to be rather appealing. Think Apple, think "cute Cthulhu."
