STDP InterFire1

Hello,

I am looking to create a simple network of interfire neurons that have STDP rules. Is it feasible to use code from http://www.neuron.yale.edu/neuron/static/news/stdp.mod to work with interfire neurons? Or is there possibly another route that might be more applicable to interfire neurons?

I have read many of the other posts on using this code, but being completely new to this, I haven't been able to follow everything.

Perhaps you meant "integrate and fire neurons" (sometimes called "artificial spiking cells")? Please refrain from coining new jargon when there is already a term that is widely used and accepted.

NEURON has three built-in classes of artificial spiking cells. None of them has an STDP rule built in. stdp.mod is a description of a conductance change synaptic mechanism, so it would not be usable with any of NEURON's artificial spiking cells. However, someone who knows what they're doing in NMODL could implement artificial spiking cell classes that have STDP rules. How serious is your need?
