Start Neuron

Okay, major beginner question.
I installed NEURON via the .deb package, and that seemed to work fine. How do I actually run it? Sorry for the dumb question, but I can't find out anywhere! I'm new to Linux but it's my only computer at the moment.
Thanks for any info.

Clarification: it does not show up in any of my menus, I've checked extensively, including in the menu administration gui. I think I must run it by command line but don't know how.

The command is
nrngui

To start NEURON and make it read a file called "foo" that contains hoc code, first cd to the directory that contains foo, then type
nrngui foo

For this to work, the directory that contains the nrngui executable must be in your path. For example, my PATH string contains, among other stuff,
/usr/local/iv/i686/bin
and
/usr/local/nrn/i686/bin
because I installed InterViews in /usr/local/iv and NEURON in /usr/local/nrn.

Thanks very much for the instructions! It's running, and now I can do my homework - at home.
