Hi, I just tried installing both NEURON 7.3 Windows installers on a 64-bit Windows 8 machine:

64 bit MinGW
The installation looked successful, but when I tried to launch NEURON Demo or nrngui, a terminal window blinked open and closed really fast, and nothing else happened. I tried uninstalling, deleting everything, and reinstalling, but the behavior remained the same.

32 bit Cygwin
After uninstalling and deleting everything from the 64 bit installation, I tried the 32 bit installation and that was successful; I was able to run the NEURON Demo and open nrngui, so I am using the 32 bit version for now.

The current 64 bit installer for MSWin has a bug that is yet to be fixed. In the meantime, use the 32 bit version. Performance won't be materially affected for any models you are likely to be able to run under MSWin on a desktop or laptop PC.
