creating a model for second messenger system

Post by ShreyanshShah »

Hello everybody!
I was wondering if someone has tried to model second messenger system (like one responsible for LTP generation showing cAMP kinetics) using NMODL
Thanks!

I didn't realize that a model of LTP induction or expression involving cAMP had reached
the "the" status.

That aside, there have been lots of NEURON models that involve second messengers of
one sort or another (any model in which the intracellular concentration of something
affects something else). Most often it's cai affecting a gk, but also see the model of DA
effect by Gruber et al. in ModelDB
http://senselab.med.yale.edu/senselab/m ... odel=39949
Destexhe and Sejnowski published a model of a use-dependent synaptic plasticity that
involved a 2nd messenger
(see the NEURON bibliography http://www.neuron.yale.edu/neuron/bib/usednrn.html)
and Michael Hines exploited the event delivery system to implement a very efficiend
model of use-dependent plasticity governed by a "second messenger" (see chapter
10 of The NEURON Book).
