Re: Temperature dependence with the Channel Builder

Hello there, This discussion went cold 11 years ago after a successful solution, but may I ask a follow up question. Within the HOC I can easily read temperature, calculate appropriate rate constants and write these to: ChannelBuild[3].aliases.aCO.A=rate That works nicely when I followed those exact...

Re: Channel Builder Ion Permeability Ratios

Hi All, I think I have solved this issue now. To avoid any charge balance issues and timestep delays (discussed above). I now created a non-specific ion kschannel with chosen TRP Vrev and gmax of zero . Now the simulated mixed permeability "trp" channel merrily gates according to the vario...

Re: Channel Builder Ion Permeability Ratios

Small update; I have created the channel "tedeq" with permeability for eq valence 2, equilibrium potential +50mV. I've created a mechanism (NMODL) that is supposed to translate this to an ica in the first instance simply returning ica=ieq, then I was going to develop that later. Charge bal...

Re: Channel Builder Ion Permeability Ratios

Thank you very much indeed. A little more background in case other viewers are wondering what I am up to with single channel building/modelling. We are recording and modelling TRP channel expressing neurones, and ultimately aim to include temperature, osmolarity and calcium feedback regulation, in a...

Re: Channel Builder Ion Permeability Ratios

Thank you very much for that Ted. . . I'll investigate this approach. I think that probably the IV relationship is surprisingly linear, as you suggested (I have data on this at my office). I do need to track ca movement though. I will experiment some more.
Thanks again

Re: Channel Builder Ion Permeability Ratios

Thank you for the speed of your reply Ted. Yes indeed, I am aiming to "implement" a stoichiometric single channel in the channel builder with a mixed permeability for Na, K and Ca. Permeability ratio, for example 1:1:6. Naturally I have I have poked around quite a lot, including thing this...

Channel Builder Ion Permeability Ratios

Hello, I have been getting on pretty well with the channel builder for stoichiometric ion channel behaviour. I was finding this far more intuitive (easier!) than my previous *.mod schemas. Works well with the tutorial HH channels and my own simple Ca channel I built as a test. However, our work thes...

Uninstall

Sorry for posting such a basic question. In order to reinstall NEURON we uninstall the previous version. I'm not a regular Mac user; I don't see a specific uninstaller. Do I just delete the entire NEURON directory in FINDER/APPLICATIONS, and presumably re-boot?
Thanks.

Cellular Volume

Hello I am taking a look at cellular volume with NEURON, amongst other things. I have defined a mechanism which can handle a simple volume change, but is it possible to use this to change the master RANGE "diam" and "L" during a simulation (so, potentially, other mechanisms can p...

Re: Problem in logging to savepath.fit

Thank you very much Shaliest.... my current OsX version 7.3 also leaves flag set on 0; so your tip has solved my problem for me to. Now it writes it out as you so clearly described.

Re: Unix/linux installation failure

...update... I changed the include file to include the obscure location in which shape.h resides on our system.... (having first done a system-wise file search)... and Neurondemo now works. I have left this post here in case of use to anyone. Hope I didn't waste anyone else's time too... Thanks for ...

Unix/linux installation failure

Hello All, I am trying to install NEURON on my University "mainframe" computer, just as a user, I have no root privileges. It runs both UNIX and LINUX, so I am trying with the linux (REDHAT) version. This is how far I have gotten: 1 Downloaded and unzipped the packages nrn and iv (nrn7.4/i...
