In the previous attempts I used ./configure --prefix=`pwd` because I'm intertested in the X11 version. I tried using recipe 2 and got the same errors as before. However, using --enable-carbon produced several new errors when making iv $ ./configure --prefix=`pwd` --enable-carbon > configure.out; mak...

5.9 DMG can't open library: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.4.dylib

Hi, I tried installing the 5.9.39-powerpc-apple-darwin8.6.0.dmg in /Applications on a 10.3.9 G5 powerpc but get the following error when I double clicked the neurondemo. Same error when trying from the command line. dyld: /Applications/NEURON-5.9/nrn/powerpc/bin/nrniv.app/Contents/MacOS/nrniv can't ...

I forgot to list the command in make that triggered the error. Here it is gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../.. -I../.. -I../.. -I../../src/oc -I../../src/oc -I../../src/parallel -I../../src/nrnjava -I../../src/nrncvode -I../../src/ivos -I../../src/sundials -I../../src/nrnpython -g -O2 -MT termio.lo -...

I isolated the problem so it can be reproduced by others. In the example below I use the pyramidal cell from the nrn demo and the hh mechanism. Note that the first two calls to sinit(0.2) yield identical results. However, after an intermediate nseg reset, sinit(0.2) yields different results. Somehow...

Initialization/nseg problem

I have a custom init routine that uses the d-lambda rule to set nseg (taking care to always use odd values) and the example in the Neuron book using large dt to find the steady state (see below) The problem is that repeated executions do not yield the same results. Eg, in the call sequence init(0.1)...

read data from binary file (wcp format from WinWcp)

Hi All, I want to read experimental results recorded with the WinWcp program from the university of Strathclyde in Glasgow. I have the format and c code that can do this. I don't see a way to do it directly from neuron (no binary read()) THe only option I see is inserting the c code into a NMOD modu...

elapsed time ?

Hi all,

Is there a way to find the elapsed time from neuron short of using a system( "date" ) call ?

Thanks,

local strdef?

Is there a chance to have a local strdef, e.g, localstr ?

local variables (local and localobj) are great when writing templates.
However strings are only global and can get in the way in a complex template.

left-to-right short-circuit conditional evaluation?

Is there a chance to use short-circuit (as in c and other prog langs) conditional evaluation in NEURON? Take this example oc> func a(){ print "a called" return 0} oc> func b(){ print "b called" return 0} oc> if( a() && b() ) print "none" a called b called Once a() returned 0 there was no need to eva...

I tried the first approach; I substituted MAC_DARWIN_TRUE for FALSE and viceversa in config.status, and then $ make $ make install worked fine. THanks for your help. PS. When I start up nrngui I get the error nrniv: unable to open font *Arial*bold*--12*", using "fixed" Any ideas on how to fix this? ...

Errors with make install (nrn-5.7.159 OSX 10.3.9)

I've been running nrn-5.6 with X11 for some time but decided to upgrade. When trying to install nrn-5.7.159 from scratch in a G5 running 10.3.9 iv makes and installed OK. For nrn, make went fine but I get errors with make install (see below). Any help in solving this will be greatly appreciated. ---...

Realistic current clamp electrode (balance bridge artifact)

Does anybody know of a "realistic" current clamp model that incorporates electrode resistance and capacitance? I have some experimental current patch clamp recordings with artifacts at the beggining and end of the current pulse (I believe these are known as bridge balance artifacts) and I want to re...
