functioning of pt3dadd

I would like to know how pt3dadd works. Do I have to specifiy it in absolute or relative coordinates? Here an example: I want to add a tuft dendrite on top of an apical dendrite lets say the apical dendrite is specified by: apic { pt3dclear() pt3dadd(0, 0, 0, 2) pt3dadd(0, 0, 400, 2) } Is it then en...

Re: Reduction of the Number of Synapses

Thanks for the answer. That was exactly what I was looking for: A synapse that can take several inputs. I did not know that Exp2syn is already implemented to do that (i.e. to add the inputs linearly). And it is really faster than having several synapses with one input.

Reduction of the Number of Synapses

I built a model of a neuron and want to stimulate it with synapses. Usually one neuron in the brain is stimulated with thousands of synapses. I was trying to think of a way to reduce this number in my simulations in order to reduce computation time. My idea was the following: 1. Compute spike trains...

Re: measuring total synaptic current

Hi, I want to measure the current from all the synapses I inserted into a neuron. How can I do that? I tried to record from all synapses in Python by: vec_i = [0]*5 for i in np.arange(0,n_syn): vec_i[i] = h.Vector() vec_i[i].record(h.AMPAsyn[i]._ref_i) But when I run a simulation the program dies wi...
