Re: After updated to NEURON 7.4 on MSWin

Under Win 7 and before, installing NEURON creates a folder called NEURON on the Desktop. It also creates a NEURON program group in the Start menu. If you don't see the folder or the program group, I'm not quite sure what to tell you to do. Sorry, Ted, I just understood what you meant. Yes, I have a...

Re: After updated to NEURON 7.4 on MSWin

Tell me, when you just start NEURON by double clicking on the nrngui icon, what is the first line that NEURON prints to its output window? Should look something like this: NEURON -- Release 7.3 (1014:d5bf062d0b56) 2014-01-02 (exact numbers will differ, of course) For 7.3, yes, I got this similar lo...

Re: After updated to NEURON 7.4 on MSWin

Hi, Ted,

I just return to NEURON 7.3, it is working well with my program.
But I still get the same issue when running that release.hoc in nrn73w64\demo folder.
Do I need to compile the files in mod files in nrn73w64\demo\release folder?
Thank you.

Re: After updated to NEURON 7.4 on MSWin

Hi, Ted, Thank you so much for your reply. I just did all the tests according to your suggestion. As follows: 1. I uninstalled NEURON 7.3 with the uninstaller in the NEURON program group, and then installed 7.4 on my computer, which is based on Windows10. This didn't solve my problem. But this time,...

Re: COBA Neuron

Hi, Ted, Yes, I ran the simulation after adding that printf statement, and noticed that flag=3 only executed once upon initialization. Does this mean, once WATCH statement is executed, it's always monitoring the voltage? It's like some program always working at the backstage, but needs kick-off at t...

After updated to NEURON 7.4 on MSWin

Hi, We have to simple model which was working fine in NEURON 7.3 or other older version. After I installed NEURON 7.4, compiling was successful, but when I run the program, it gave me an problem of nrniv.exe, showing " Entry Point Not Found-The procedure entry point hoc_register_prop_size could not ...

Re: COBA Neuron

Ted, Thank you so much for your reply. Yes. I just noticed that you commented out v = vrefrac in xspikeout.mod. Just one more question about this COBA cell. About that WATCH statement, I saw you replied to other questions, stating that "A WATCH statement only needs to be executed once, during simula...

Re: COBA Neuron

Hi, Ted, Thank you so much for you reply. Yes, I tried the code you sent, it works. The voltage is clamped at certain level once it crosses the threshold, for some period of time. Instead of clamped at certain level, is there any methods to make the voltage goes linearly up to peak and down, after i...

Re: COBA Neuron

Hi, Ted, Excuse me for not posting another new thread. Even though this is an old thread, it's really helpful and informative. So I just want to follow up with my questions here. I'm now using COBA IF neuron in my project . For some reason, we need to make this COBA neuron more realistic. That is to...

Questions about Brunel's model in 2000

Hi,

I'm pretty interested in Sparsely connected networks of spiking neurons (Brunel 2000) model, which is available on modelDB. Realized the model was coded in NEST SLI language, does anyone know how to convert this to Neuron?
Thanks in advance.

Re: use self events in the NET_RECEIVE block

How does that have anything to do with whether you have bundled multiple synaptic mechanisms into a single NMODL file, or whether the code has been factored into separate files, i.e. one NMODL file per mechanism? Hi, Ted, sorry to confuse. I meant, if we separate the mod file, we have to record lik...

Re: use self events in the NET_RECEIVE block

We are running on paralleled codes, and on workstation. So memory shouldn't be a problem. But our usable hard drive space is a big problem. Sometimes we may even want to save the synaptic info at 1 dt step with a long protocol, which would make the situation even worse. The number of synapses in our...

Re: use self events in the NET_RECEIVE block

Seems unlikely. How many synapses do you expect to need? For the current 1000-cell network, we already have around 40,000 synapses. Ted, "seems unlikely" means, we have some potential problems now? Or it's OK, we can go with the current mechanism, i.e. without using self events? but maybe I need to...

Re: use self events in the NET_RECEIVE block

Hi, Ted, Really appreciate your reply and time. One thing I would suggest that would make development and debugging much less difficult for you: use separate NMODL files to implement AMPA- and NMDA-gated synaptic transmission. The present implementation's NEURON block and lists of parameters and ass...

Re: use self events in the NET_RECEIVE block

I realize that much effort has already gone into your NMODL code, but before proceeding further let me suggest that you take a look at ampanmda.mod in ModelDB entry 144570 and see if it is close enough to what you want to serve as is, or after minor modification. Hi, Ted, Thanks. I read at the ampa...
