Access attribute of object owned by other host

Hello, How can one host access an attribute of an object that exists on another host? Specifically, I rewrote some code that refers to the position of the cells in my network. Previously, the cell objects weren't actually 'assigned' positions; the positions were just tracked in a vector where the ve...

Use a parallel compiler with NEURON?

Hi, I'm still trying to set up our cluster and am learning more about different aspects of parallel computing. Our administrator recommends using a special compiler optimized for parallel computing, such as 'pgcc' from the Portland Group, rather than gcc. Is NEURON compatible with this compiler? Als...

Re: Debug parallel NEURON on a Linux cluster

Thanks for the quick reply and these resource links. I've read the first one a few times and found it very helpful. Now I will look through the rest of these links as well. Plus, my NEURON book just arrived yesterday!

Debug parallel NEURON on a Linux cluster

Hi, we are running a parallel network model on an 8-node Linux cluster and are wondering what approach to take with debugging parallel NEURON programs. I'm not too familiar with our options, but think they include the following. Do you have any suggestions as to which option is best? 1. Run a serial...

Re: neurondemo: Special.exe not working (Cygwin, Vista or XP)

Is it correct to assume that you installed the most recent cygwin? Were you able to install Interviews? I installed the most recent version of cygwin three weeks ago; I think it's still the most recent one. Interviews installed correctly. By the way. Configureing with --with-nrnpython should work w...

neurondemo: Special.exe not working (Cygwin, Vista or XP)

Hi there, I downloaded, compiled and installed the Linux version of Neuron 7.0 on my Windows Vista machine using Cygwin. My colleague did the same on his Windows XP machine using Cygwin. During the compilation and install process, we saw a few errors: 1. Sigpoll and I_getsig were not installed corre...
