future development of the NEURON

Postby sgratiy » Wed Apr 11, 2012 2:05 pm

I am curious, what is the planned future for the NEURON? Are there new versions to be expected? Perhaps, new GUI?

Thanks

New versions are to be expected. First, there are the usual "bug fixes." Then there are new features; the current focus of "new" development effort here is on using GPUs for faster simulations of larger models, and enabling NEURON to deal with reactive diffusion in ways that are efficient and convenient. Other development efforts are under way; some Python users have been working on GUI improvements for NEURON+Python, but I don't know how close they are to "official release" of anything.
