NEURON 7.4 source tar - 404?

Post by asinha2 »

Hello,

I was planning to compile neuron from source. The site says 7.4 is the latest edition, but the source tar isn't available at the download location. http://www.neuron.yale.edu/ftp/neuron/v ... 7.4.tar.gz gives me a 404. I've checked the directory tree too, and there isn't a source tar there. Could it please be uploaded?

Cheers,
Ankur

Sorry about the documentation lagging behind the site's directory structure. Looks like development is moving relatively "quickly".

Looking in the v7.4.rel-1341 subdirectory of http://www.neuron.yale.edu/ftp/neuron/versions/v7.4/ I see iv-19.tar.gz dated 04-Jun-2015 and several tar.gz files, including nrn-7.4.rel-1341.tar.gz which is also from 04-Jun-2015, and nrn-7.4.rel-1351.tar.gz which is dated 21-Jul-2015.

My own choice would be to get the very latest source code for InterViews and NEURON from the mercurial repository, as described at http://www.neuron.yale.edu/neuron/download/getdevel

Hi Ted,

Thank you for the info. I've built an rpm that follows the Fedora packaging guidelines and can therefore be part of the Fedora repositories themselves. It is generally preferred to package a stable release of the software since development versions progress fairly quickly and are generally a little more buggy than stable releases.

At the moment, the reviews haven't been approved yet, but the packages that I've built can be found here (coprs are easy to use in F22+ with DNF):
https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/an ... -research/

The review ticket is here, although, one needn't follow them:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1249094

Cheers!
